October’s Dog of the Month is Nora, a sweet and wonderfully goofy Golden Doodle from Greenfield, Indiana.
Nora will turn 4 on November 23, but she has already packed plenty of personality into those first few years. She is affectionate, gentle, rarely barks, loves her family deeply, and has a very specific talent for destroying stuffed animals with impressive precision.
Around her house, that has earned her the title of “the seam ripper.”
From First Home to First Dog
Nora joined her family after Abby and her husband moved out of their apartment and into their first home.
They had always wanted to become dog parents, and finally having a place of their own meant it was time.
Her name came from a name book. They had originally planned on calling her Luna, but once they met her, it just didn’t fit.
Nora did.
And she eventually picked up another name too: Booboo.
In the dark, Nora apparently looks like a soft white shape with two big dark eyes staring back at you — which makes “Booboo” a pretty perfect nickname for an October Dog of the Month. 👻
A Professional Stuffy Destroyer
Nora loves walks, treats, visiting her Aunt Molly and fur cousins, and chewing on toys.
But stuffed animals are where she really shines.
Nora doesn’t simply chew them up. She carefully tears them apart at the seams, which is why her family now intentionally buys inexpensive stuffies specifically for her to destroy.
That sounds less like misbehavior and more like a hobby.
Her favorite toy, though, is a mini avocado, which has apparently survived the seam-ripping operation so far.
Nora’s Very Busy Schedule
Nora starts her day earlier than most of us would prefer.
At 4 AM, she gets up with Abby and hangs out beside her while she works out before work. Whether Abby is cycling or lifting weights, Nora is right there supervising.
Once Mom heads to work, Nora climbs back into bed with Dad for a little more sleep.
Then, after both humans leave for the day, Nora spends her time with her Golden Doodle brother, Toby, usually sleeping on the couch and, as Abby puts it, “mourning” the fact that Mom and Dad have gone to work.
When Abby gets home, Nora and Toby get a snack, play outside, and then settle in nearby while Abby works on patient charts.
And when Dad walks through the door?
Nora performs a happy dance.
Dinner brings some sweet begging for scraps, followed by an evening walk when the weather is cool enough and, finally, bedtime snuggles while Mom and Dad read.
Honestly, Nora has this whole life thing figured out.
The Best Big Sister
One of Abby’s favorite memories with Nora happened when the family brought Toby home as a puppy.
Instead of becoming jealous or territorial, Nora was thrilled.
She seemed genuinely excited to have another little creature in the house and happily shared her family, her home, and her life with him.
That moment perfectly sums up Nora’s personality.
She is sweet, gentle, happy-go-lucky, and seemingly without a jealous bone in her body.
The “Heely Girl”
Of course, Nora has her quirks too.
Her family calls her their “Heely girl” because she likes to plop down on her bottom, lift her front legs into the air, and lean backward — a motion that reminds them of someone rolling around in Heely shoes.
She also has some very specific television opinions.
Nora almost never barks, but apparently horses and camels on TV are unacceptable.
Those will get a reaction.
And when Nora does bark?
According to Abby, she sounds like Chewbacca.
The first time her family heard her bark, it actually startled them because the sound was so unfamiliar.
For a dog who barely uses her voice, she certainly chose a memorable one.
A Sweet Girl Through and Through
Nora’s greatest strength is simple: she is always sweet.
Even when she is nervous — like during a trip to the vet — she remains gentle.
Her biggest weakness is car rides, which make her anxious.
But at home, surrounded by her people and Toby, Nora is exactly where she wants to be.
If Nora could talk, Abby thinks she would probably say:
“I just love you guys.”
And after learning a little more about her, that sounds exactly right.
Congratulations, Nora!
From 4 AM workouts and backyard playtime to happy dances, shredded stuffies, and the occasional Chewbacca bark, Nora brings a lot of joy into her family’s home.
We are excited to name Nora from Greenfield, Indiana, Yard Logs’ October 2026 Dog of the Month.
Congratulations, Nora! We hope your month in the spotlight comes with plenty of treats, walks, snuggles, and at least a few stuffies you are allowed to completely destroy. 🎃🐾💚
